i hate to come on here & ask this but my bf lives with me fulltime now after a recent ultrasound discovered he has a large tumor in his uterus and we are being slammed with medical bills that we just cannot pay immediately such as the ER visit down below.

just giving a quick update that we are currently at 410/1.2k !! we are slowly but surely getting there with the help of you all and family/friends and hoping to get this paid off before we can think about surgical removal. thank you so much for your help and boosts!

second update before i sleep until my overnight shift; his surgery is scheduled for july and it will be a 4-6 week recovery. we are currently halfway there with the remaining bill at 600/1.2k, and i am trying to get this paid before we’re hit with the next bill of his surgery expenses. really want to say again that your generosity has been extremely helpful and every day we appreciate it so much. thank you again from the bottom of my heart

sorry but it’s actually so horrific how little of a sense of community people have, how little regard they extend towards the other humans around them. killing people for being loud on the subway or turning around in your driveway. loading your gun and waiting at the door because a child ran your doorbell unexpectedly. ring cameras, neighborhoodapp, community watch group Facebook pages. you’ve assigned yourself the role of the one true peacekeeper and casted everyone else around you as a threat to be controlled. there’s no connection or love or compassion. just a deep distrust and hatred.

and the people who face the most significant consequences from this are the ones who are already deemed as outsiders. people of color, especially Black people, disabled people, people with mental illnesses, homeless people.

and so many people are willfully promoting this complete alienation from each other. the obsession with true crime, the hatred directed at children for existing in public spaces, the policing and controlling of where homeless people are allowed to be / what they’re allowed to do, the constant fearmongering about public transportation. you are building a society of FEAR. you are conditioning yourself to distrust everyone around you. you need to make an active, conscious effort to engage with the world and the life around you in a healthy manner.

someone in the tags pointed out the role of filming strangers in public with this and YES that’s a huge issue! it’s the surveillance of others at all times, every act of a stranger being assessed and monitored. and there’s no more personal conflict resolution. rather than de-escalate or ignore in the moment, rather than confront and resolve the problem, people choose to film it and post it later in order to promote this group, public shaming / punitive justice. someone is rude to you in public? post it online for thousands to see and maybe they’ll get fired, maybe they’ll have to leave all social media. you want community justice without the community. there’s no room for honest error, for lending a hand, for compassion. it’s all filtered, commercialized bullshit that continues to create fear and resentment
